Best Archive Restoration & Preservation Project
The FOCAL International Restoration and Preservation Project Award endeavour to recognise the archives and / or technical facilities that have restored and preserved archival moving image content across a project (multiple connected titles), originating on film or video.
The FOCAL Jury will take into account various considerations when assessing the works. Such considerations include:
- The fidelity of the completed works to its original form and content of the source material
- The technical achievements of the works including when the archive or technical facility has had to overcome challenging conditions to produce the works
- Its suitability for restoration and the significance of it being restored and preserved for current and future audiences
- What measures are being taken to sensitively preserve the original and restored materials
These above considerations are not exhaustive and the jury aim to consider each entry in their own right and context.
The FOCAL Awards celebrate three areas – production, restoration and preservation, and people.
All our production categories celebrate the very best use of footage within the production, programme or project.
