BBC Motion Gallery Puts Infax Online

BBC Motion Gallery is delighted to announce the launch of Infax online. Infax is a text-based site, which allows customers to search the entire BBC archive for footage to use in productions. The archive covers over 60 years of broadcasting on the BBC network, and includes details of complete programmes, selected stockshots and news.

Customers wishing to use Infax can register with BBC Motion Gallery at no cost. All researchers and producers are encouraged to contact BBC Motion Gallery and request access for themselves or their teams.

The BBC archive’s rich library of footage covers all genres from entertainment and natural history to all the major news events of the 20th and 21st centuries. A core collection of clips from the archive can be found at www.bbcmotiongallery.com and the rest of the archive can now be searched through the text-based Infax pages on www.bbcmotiongallery.com/infax.

The advanced search functionality enables the customer to search a specific catalogue or news story or search by date or genre from the BBC’s extensive archive. As well as searching the archive, researchers and producers are now able to set up and use workbooks to save catalogue items and e-mail them to colleagues or to a team at BBC Motion Gallery. It is also possible for the customer to set up email alerts so they can be notified instantly if the BBC transmit an item/programme about any topic in which they express an interest.
