The East Anglian Film Archive (EAFA) is a regional film archive owned by the University of East Anglia. Established in 1976 and part of the University since 1984, EAFA collects thousands of films and television programmes dating from 1896 to the present day, representing the six counties of the East of England region - Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk, and Suffolk. These comprise mainly non- fiction material such as advertising films, corporate videos, documentaries, family and personal films, home movies, travelogues, and films by civic bodies and regional organisations. The archive also holds unique collections, for example from Anglia Television and BBC East as well as the film library and papers of the Institute of Amateur Cinematographers (IAC). EAFA works closely with the University of East Anglia to support its activities in teaching, research, engagement, and enterprise. The archive offers a footage sales service to broadcasters organisations and individuals. Over 200 hours of footage is available to view on eafa.org.uk and an additional database is available to view remotely on request. EAFA offers a digitisation service (HD digital scanning graded in Davinci Resolve) for all film gauges and a wide range of video formats. For further information please contact the archive at [email protected] In November 2024 EAFA received recognition of its work through Archive Service Accreditation for the second time.
